Generally, "slips and falls" (also called "trips and falls" or "slips, trips, and falls") would describe injuries occurring on someone else’s property as a result of a dangerous condition on that property--for instance, slipping and injuring yourself on food spilled on a restaurant floor. These kinds of accidents can occur on any property, whether public or private, such as parks, apartment-building common areas, private homes, or your office.
In 2002, fire departments responded to 401,000 home fires in the United States, which claimed the lives of an estimated 2,670 people (not including firefighters) and injured another 14,050 (Karter 2003)
